August is the month where thousands of people go to Shrewsbury, Canada, for their 124th annual flower show, according to the Moose Jaw Times Herald.
The event, which is held at the Shrewsbury Quarry Park, displays hundreds of orchids and hydrangeas along with more summer flowers. It is not only about the flowers as each year it recognizes anniversaries of people in the town, according to the news provider.
One of the men at the show last year said to the news source about his friend Ciampittiello Aldo, who originally lived in Italy and is now in Belgium, explained that gardening is more appreciated in Europe than elsewhere. Many people gave Aldo a hard time for using so much of his effort towards his plants, the news source reports.
This isn't the only flower show that took place this summer. According to the Dumfries and Galloway Standard, nearly 100,000 visitors went to the show in Tatton Park to see the display from the Dumfries and Galloway Council, and they earned a Silvery Grenfell award for their blooms at the RHS National Flower Bed Competition in England.
