Flu and cold season is upon us, and even though two-thirds of U.S. adults plan to get the flu vaccine this year, many more will fall ill with colds and other viruses as the weather cools down.

According to WebMD, more people have started to get the flu vaccine in recent years. The vaccine is currently the best preventative method for the influenza virus, and its availability is spreading. More than 85 million doses have already been delivered to doctors' offices, public health clinics, pharmacies and retail stores, the news source reports. More people are also receiving the vaccine at a pharmacy or retail store than in the past. Last year, 18 percent of adults who who were vaccinated got the shot at one of these locations.

Even with the best preventative measures, plenty of people will come down with a nasty cold this winter. Nothing will warm their hearts like get well soon flowers or a get well gift basket. Even if a loved one's nose is too stuffed up to smell the gorgeous blooms, the energetic colors are sure to please their senses and lift their spirits. A gift basket that contains snacks will show them that you care about their wellbeing.
