Pop star bans carnations on tour

May 23, 2011

Pop star Katy Perry is known for her catchy songs and outrageous fashions. She may soon also be known as a picky celebrity after the website revealed details of the starlet's demands for her upcoming tour.

The website reports that Perry, like many celebrities, wants fresh flowers in her dressing room for each U.S. stop of her 2011 world tour. However, the contract specifically outlines which varieties of flowers are permitted and outright bans carnations altogether.

Among the flowers she requests the arrangements include are white and purple hydrangeas, pink and white roses and peonies. If those blooms are not available, the star will settle for a seasonal arrangement, such as one made up of spring flowers, as long as it includes white orchids as well.

When it comes to her dislike of carnations, the document advises concert promoters that the blooms are absolutely not allowed. The writing is in capital letters and underlined to make sure no one misses the detail.

While Perry may not be a fan of carnations, many others are. A recent story in the Wall Street Journal stated that there is a renewed interest in the flower, especially among some famous and fashionable figures, including Oscar de la Renta, Martha Stewart and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The blooms have a pleasant scent, are long-lasting and extremely versatile.
