NJ garden show offers burst of color to winter
by

February 10, 2011
It already feels like it has been a longer winter. Snow piled in many parts of the country all last month, leaving many streets gray and people blue. Luckily, the New Jersey Flower and Garden Show set to take place next week will change all of that by providing attendees with some brilliant colors starting, according to Get Growing.
Acclaimed designers, gardeners and landscapers from New Jersey will all come together to design a set that will appeal to many who feel tired of the season and are looking to catch a glimpse of
spring flowers
. The celebration's theme will be "Gardens on Broadway."
Among the exhibits will be a competitive flower show - "Regards to Broadway" - and a Youth Flower contest entitled "Funky Broadway."
One organization that will be at the event is the New Jersey Audubon Society, which will host free lessons on creating organic garden sculptures from branches and other materials, as well as demonstrations of painting with plant pigments. Children will have the chance to create their own mini-greenhouses with plastic water bottles.
Many other states will be holding shows exhibiting
fresh flowers
this month, including Omaha, Nebraska, which will feature a display that combines modern-day botany with a Mexican twist, according to The World-Herald.
