How to create delightful floral centerpiece

by webdev

October 25, 2010

Known for creating over-the top table settings for Oprah, Donna Karan and Donald Trump, event designer Preston Bailey prefers to keep it sweet and simple at home. He recently sat down with The Wall Street Journal to share some of tips for creating a homey yet special table for dinner parties.

Bailey advises hosts to start with a silk tablecloth to offer a supporting backdrop to your main spread. He usually chooses solid colors that better enhance the table's main decor.

Often during the autumnal season, he will opt for an effortless centerpiece created by piling two types of colored leaves in a giant bowl.

And for a simple flower arrangement Bailey suggests filling a round glass bowl with water, then dropping rose petals into the bowl in order to make one big, floating rose.

Baily's main advice was to not "take it too seriously ... you should be playful, yourself and original. You don't have to have everything perfect, and your friends should understand that," he told the news source.

This season an empty pumpkin as a vase for a floral arrangement or a bundle of miniature pumpkins would make an ideal Thanksgiving centerpiece, according to HometownAnnapolis.com.
