The best day to be green is fast approaching, as St. Patrick's Day is rolling into town this Sunday, March 17. However, there's no need to be green with envy at your Irish friends. Instead, opt to host a fabulous party equipped with stunning and tasty cocktails from Cosmopolitan magazine.

Emerald Isle
The first cocktail to create at your upcoming fete is the Emerald Isle drink that is sure to excite leprechauns enough to give up their gold. To create this sassy drink you'll need 2 ounces of pinot grigio, 4 cucumber chunk, 5 mint leaves, 3/4 ounce of lime juice, 3/4 ounce of simple syrup and 1 ounce soda water.

With the ingredients on hand, start by muddling the cucumber and mint leaves in a cocktail shaker. Next add ice, the lime juice, simple syrup and wine to the shaker and then mix it up vigorously for about 30 seconds. Strain the drink into a glass of ice and then garnish with a cucumber slice and a few mint sprigs.

This delicious take on a shake is sure to have guests wanting more. To enjoy this festive green beverage at your St. Patrick's Day party, you'll need just a few ingredients. You'll need one shot of Irish whiskey, 1/2 ounce of Creme de Menthe, a few crushed graham crackers and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Combine all ingredients except the gram crackers in a blender and blend them on medium until smooth. During this time, wet the rims of your martini glasses in the ice cream and then dip them in the graham crackers for a tasty rim. When the remaining ingredients are well blended, pour the mixture into the glasses and enjoy!

Luck of the Irish martini
For the friends who simply can't do without a martini, this is for them. The glowing drink is sure to excite guests of all ages thanks to its bold neon hue. For this beverage you'll need 2 ounces of vodka, 1/2 ounce of dry vermouth and 1/2 ounce of Irish whiskey.

Start by pouring the whiskey into a martini glass, swirling it around to coat the inside, then drain the remaining liquid. Next, pour the vodka and dry vermouth into a shaker filled with ice, mix it up well and pour the ingredients into the martini glasses.

Set the tone
Even though specialty beverages are a great addition to a theme party, so are decorations. Make sure to offer up plenty of green favors - think necklaces, hats and sunglasses - and add some class with St. Patrick's Day green flowers.
