Flower shop raising money for shelter

The effort of sending flowers online or otherwise to friends or family sends a positive, feel-good message no matter who the recipient, and a flower shop in Jonesboro, Arizona, is using the power of flowers to get food donations for a local woman's crisis center, according to the news channel KAIT-TV.

This local woman's crisis center is full and packed with people that are in need of help, and the food is limited. The owner of the flower shop thought that if she could trade any type of blooms - orchids, hydrangeas, or tropical flowers - for food, she would donate it, according to the media outlet.

"Women love flowers and I think that sometimes people are in dire need of a helping hand," Bridgette Arnold, the owner of Posey Peddler, told the news source. "They need more than food. Food isn't something they should have to think about in this great country that we have. They shouldn't have to think about food and flowers are such a beautiful thing and sometimes that can motivate someone do something that normally they wouldn't have."

Now, sometimes people are able to combine both ideas - food and flowers. According the Chronicle Herald, certain blooms can be the perfect addition to a summer salad.
