Floral prints to make a comeback this year

by webdev

January 10, 2011

Analysts surmise that the floral prints popular in 70s fashion are due to make a comeback this year based on similar sociopolitical patterns, the Detroit Free Press reports.

According to the news source, trend-watchers are seeing the same recurrence of "working women...coming into their own, a period of economic instability and a party-hard attitude," which could, by extension, trigger a resurgence of wide pants, airy peasant tops and long skirts and dresses.

"I think there's a backlash in fashion against all the futurism and athletic references we've seen," StyleSight trend director Andrea Praet told the news source. Praet imagines gingham and floral prints in their place in a variety of mediums including sheets, towels and wallpaper.

Fresh flowers are always an alternative to fabric prints and can provide an uplifting, liberating energy no matter the decade or political climate.

Buy flowers online to spruce up your home or send flowers to friends in need of a pick-me-up. Flower-power bouquets reminiscent of the 70s may include soft pink and orange flowers reminiscent of household interiors and blooms of various heights "representing a society reaching outside the previous conventions," according to EagleTribune.com.
