Fall is my favorite time of year. There is something energizing about the crisp air, clear blue skies and a landscape saturated with vibrant red, golds and oranges. I look forward to the fall both outside and inside my home. Nature takes care of the outside, but I so enjoy bringing the flavors of fall indoors as well.

A big basket on the coffee table is filled with small pumpkins and berries. We have nandina bushes that bear clusters of bright red berries that dry fairly well making an interesting combination with the pumpkins and tucking in a few fall leaves adds additional texture. Try Ilex, Bittersweet, Calicarpus, seeded eucalyptus, pauwlonia and rose hips as other berry options. (Because these berries dry so nicely, as we approach Christmas its fun to replace the pumpkins in the basket with pine cones and fresh cedar, reinserting the berries, ready for a new season.)

Branches of bittersweet perch gracefully on the top of the hutch in the kitchen and a few smaller branches lay on the table. In between the branches a crockery style vase filled with chrysanthemums finish the presentation.
